My local Thomas dealer says he can not get parts anymore because the company is having financial trouble. Has anyone else heard this?

I heard they are trading under chapter 11. I believe they have been doing this for some time now. From what i was told, they are still trading though, so parts should still be available.....
Depending on what you need, you may be able to get the parts from some where else?

I heard through the grapevein that they should be out of business by the new year. Good luck on trying to find parts for them. Around here it is already hard to get parts, so with no longer building them, I could just imagine trying to get a part for them. Good luck

I heard some gossip on Thomas yesterday.
It seems they have been bought out by another manufacturer who are knocking back warranty claims on machines that were sold before they took over. Doing a thing like that to customers is really bad for business, who would buy another machine if they refused a warranty claim? i know i wouldn't!!!

yep...they filed for bankruptcy, not sure how they filed but they filed to be taken over...i couldn't order a front door for my cab, but i found a dealer in the mid west that ordered it and had it delivered for me... what kind of parts will we be hard to find?...and which parts will give us Thomas owners a hard time finding/replacing?

I blew a chain on my 153 a couple of months ago, the sprocket was damaged and waiting time is 7 weeks. Thank god it was my last job of the season. In the market now for an addtional skid steer and I am looking at a bobcat or cat.

I have still been able to order parts from United Rentals. Usually a couple weeks for most parts. I heard now that United Rentals is in financial problems. Thomas is up and running and Kubota told them they still want Thomas to build there skid steers. (2nd hand information, may or may not be true). I really like my machine a lot and hope I can keep it. Most of the parts are pretty standard. The only real problems I have had are from the previouse owner disconnecting all the safety switches and cables for them. Rich

Safety switches? BAH who needs those!
I heard that the orignal owner of thomas bought the company back, at a lower price of course. So parts *should* still be available. I was told there were warranty issues as the company was sold, then sold again and they were not going to honor previous warranties given by the old owner. This too is 2nd hand information, but it was through someone that works for Thomas over here, so there may be some truth in it.

Most of the parts in a Thomas are standard off the shelf stuff. You should be able to get a replacement chain somewhere else. Try a google search.

I can tell you all for certain that Thomas is still here, alive and kicking! Parts are still available. As far as the warranty goes, I know for sure,, 100% that they are still honoring all warranties that have been registered and not cutting back on peoples warranty. People ask me how tough a Thomas is, well I tell them ask the hundreds of owners out there still using machines from the 1970's. (And yes, you can even get some of the parts for them).
