My 743 whines when moving forward or back, very loud when spining the machine in place. I think the charge pump is not keeping up with the VD pump loss. Besides the one hydraulic filter, are there any other strainers or places the flow can get restricted in the machine? also if not moving all is quiet, running the loader, still quiet. greg

There is a suction line filter on the earlier model 743s. Lift the cab and look at the hydro pump. If there is a square block on top there is a filter behind the middle hose on the rite (3 hoses on that side). Remove the hose and fitting that goes into the block. Its behind there with a spring holding it in place.
If there is no block and just a large rubber tube from the pump to a block near the throttle, there is no other filter on your machine.

No, there will be a little fluid loss but nothing substantial.
If you have another set of hands they can use a finger to plug the hoses that are removed. Better yet, you can plug the hoses with screw in plugs if you have them. Either way, not a lot of oil will flow.

a shop vac without the filter in the filler neck will keep fluid loss to a minimum I set it on top of the cab .....Jeff
