steel tracks

I put a set of grouser tracks on the skidsteer last week , got 3 inches of rain over the weekend and today put the backhoe on and went out through the woods and swamp to dig a ditch. I'm sure if you worked at it you could get stuck but they worked just great in the water and muck. They do leave bar marks on the mowed grass lawn but no ruts. I think the type with pads would work just as well but in this red clay I had doubts about buildup inside the tracks.

I just put on the McClaren Mazimizer OTT for the winter. I don't need the flotation that you do, but I have to fight through the spring mud to get to the feeders. I also need to leave the tracks on over winter - that was my reason for choosing the Maximizer. This will be my first winter with these tracks - hopefully they are no worse than the tire chains I ran previously.

I have the McLaren with rubber pads and they work well for me but I'm not in mud much only use them to remove logs and wood from customers back yards so i needed the rubber for the paved and concrete drives. They will leave a rubber mark and pinch grass as you roll but it beats the alternative. Never had a complaint. for those of you who have never used tracks on a skid steer,,,, you wont believe it.

I got the bar type grouser tracks simply because it was a good deal. They are very heavy though. Still would like to have a lighter set with the wider pads if a good deal comes along someday. I did take them off and put the chains on because we get a lot of ice early in the winter.
