Good evening- First of all, it is great to find this forum. I have participated on a number of other construction equipment related-forums on the Web but this one seems to be the best all around source of information for skid steer loaders. I have enjoyed reading the previous threads. I have a Model 630 with a bad muffler (Bobcat part number 6560582). I would like to cross the Bobcat part number with the part number at the original manufacturer, if possible. Is there a source of information somewhere that indicates the manufacturer for the mufflers on a particular model Bobcat skid steer and a way to cross the Bobcat part number? I have seen a few posts that indicated Donaldsen was one of the manufacturers but I believe I saw others as well. I have searched the web extensively but there is little info. Normally I can swallow my pride (and billfold) a little when buying parts directly from Bobcat, but $380 seems a little much for the OEM muffler on a 30HP Wisconsin. i also saw about having a custom muffler built, but the design includes internal piping between the manifold and the outlet (spark arrestor model), so doesn't seem that would be any cheaper than from Bobcat. Thanks in advance.

i wish you luck with that...for my 843 i searched all over ..i'm pretty sure that the manufacturer is bound to bobcat on sales of whatever muffler they are supplying to bobcat. for my 843 i ended up dismantling my old muffler and using the parts to build a new one with thinker pipe for the outside ..the most helpful resource for me was my local napa store ,they had a catalog with about 100 muffler configuration for equipment .but not one close enough for my 843 ..you might have more luck with your application..

The portion of my muffler that is bad is the outside "can", so maybe I could have a muffler shop recreate that but use the existing internals. Thank you for the idea.

It cab be done, I would suggest a stainless steel shell if you can source the correct size. No more rust problems.

Well, I have an update. I had asked a number of "custom" muffler shops around town (Kansas City) about replicating my 630 muffler. Most did not want to fool with it, and the ones that would did not want to create a replica muffler but rather custom bend pipe to route out the door and I would have to bring in the machine (more than 70 miles away). I was losing too much time so I bit the bullet and purchased the muffler from Bobcat.
Low and behold, the manufacturer and model number of the replacement is stamped on it- Fleetguard. It has some minor differences from the original muffler manufactured by Nelson but is otherwise a bolt on OEM replacement.
I will post the model number an photos when i have a chance.

I see where Fleetguard is part of Nelson. Found a catalog online but no prices just dimensions and drawings of available ones.

Pretty much the same for the 700 and 800 series too, might as well bite the bullet and go oem. They are wrapped with a heat shielding to reduce temps in the engine complartment. Nobody else makes one quite like that.
Though they are not cheap by the time you mess around trying to make something up, I don't think you can come out ahead.
