The light on the instrument panel just to the right of the hydraulic light, the second light from the left in the cluster of lights, the one that looks like a keyhole with an arrow pointed to the top.... is lit up on my skidsteer loader. Can anyone tell me what this means?

There is a plastic pocket behind the seat, is there a operators manual in it? from the left the first light past the open book is hyd filter, the next one is air filter but it does not have a arrow pointing straight up. it is not the rpm light you are referring to is it?

Nope, no manual. It's the light past the hyd filter, so I'm assuming it's the air filter? The arrow is not pointing stright up, it's pointing side ways, but toward the top (square portion) of the "keyhole". The next light to the right is the same symbol (keyhole), but no arrow. So, my light is between the hyd filter light and the light with the same symbol (+ temp gauge, - arrow). Wow, I never realized how difficult it was to describe a symbol.

Yes the sideways arrow is air filter, should flash if element is dirty, when when you replace it if you have a bobcat dealer handy I can send you the number of the bobcat filter that is the same but much cheaper or used to rbe. The next light with no arrow is listed as blank. However the coolant temp overheat light is on the bottom next to the seat belt light on the lower right.

Thank you! You have been a big help! Yes, please... if you have the number of the bobcat filter, I would appreciate it. Thanks again!

The Bobcat filter # is 6 598 492 take your old one along to compare. It was the Bobcat/New Holland dealer that told me they were the same filter.
Just a thought but if yours is actually dirty enough to trip the light you probably should change the inner filter also. If it looks fairly clean check wiring and possibly bad sensor also. A little dust in the air will ruin a engine quickly.
Search this forum for a link to electronic copy of the manuals, skidsteer.ca had posted one a while ago.

This is the link to the manual, it has the dash display info in it 700 and some odd pages, I think the dealer quoted me over $500 for this. Save it on a flash or thumb drive as it will be very handy.

That manual may say for 160 and 170 but it applies to most of your machine also. One difference is that the 1s l60 gear reduction cases are not separate from the chain case and on the 665 and 565 they are and are filled with gear oil.

You are awesome! Thanks so much for all your help. I had looked for a manual. Even on ebay, they were about $300... USED!!! The air filter was the issue. I bought both air filters at our local auto parts store, put them on today and my machine is running like a dream.

Good to know it helped, this forum has saved me a few times too.

By the way be sure to check those reduction gear cases. the fill points are under the seat. Mine was supposedly serviced by the dealer and judging from the looks of it and the oil they took they had never been checked. so much for dealer service. If you have to buy the operators manual it is worth the money I think.

This is going off on a tangent, but since the discussion has evolved to the gear cases, this is what I do so you do not have to worry about the gear case oil level. Remove the chain case side covers. Remove the lower front gear case attaching bolt and replace it with a drilled bolt used on the later loaders to allow oil to flow into the gearbox from the chain case.
Either replace the chain case side covers with the later covers that have a higher oil level, or drill a hole to accept a 1/2" pipe coupler into the original side covers so the center of the oil level hole is 2 1/2" up from the bottom of the plate. Cut a 1/2" pipe coupler in half and weld one of these halves to the side cover. Just like the oringinal level hole. You will also need another level plug for the new oil level hole. Fill the chain case to the new level and oil will flow into the gearboxes like the newer loaders.

Mike , this sounds like a good thing to do as soon as weather permits. I tried to look up the drilled bolt for a 160 and did not see it. Would you have a part number for it? I suppose I could drill the existing one in the lathe and put a crosshole in it but would sooner have the right part. thanks for the idea will do it.

The part number is 86518704.
