Hello, I am a Newbie here, first post. Have (1952) 8N & (1940) 9N. Just bought an 843 with Serial Number of 5026-M-15660. Can someone tell me any information about the 843, from the S/N (what year made, type of motor)? Also the motor works great but the oil pressure gage does not, has Clark on the face. Need help trobleshooting. Also belong to the Ford "N" forum. This is a great forum to be on, Thanks from SO, CA.

The 843 was first manufactured in 1981 and continued I think into the 90's. They where made with three different engines (two different Perkins and a Isuzu)so you'll have to look for a tag on the engine too be sure. You can call Bobcat with your serial number to find out when it was made.
For inquires about the year of manufacture of your Bobcat product, please contact the Marketing Service department at 701-678-6165.
Here's a link to some specs. http://www.bobcat.com/historical_specs/skid_steer

I have question. I'm trying to find out how to check the transmissiom fluid ih my 843. Until I get my service manual I have to rely on this forum for information. Can anyone help me. Thanks from SO CA.

I think you're asking about the chaincase oil. There's a pipe plug on the front of the chaincase that you remove, with the machine on a level surface the oil level should be just at the bottom of the hole. Ignore the jack and jackstands this was just a image I had handy showing where to jack and block the loader to work on it.

Thanks OldMachinist on the crankcase plug, oil came gushing out of the hole, so I put the plug back in. It looks like it was overfilled. Now, I am having trouble finding a wrench that I can use to get the oil drain plug out. The size of the plug is between 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 SAE. Maybe the plug is Metric? I do not know yet, if I have a Perkins or Isuzu engine. Thanks for all of your help. Great Forum

There normally isn't a drain plug for the chaincase on the older machines. You either suck it out thru the front plug or take cover off the top and suck it out. You should take the cover off and see if it's overfull because of water leaking in or if it's all oil then one or both of the motor seals are maybe leaking. Water leaking in past the top cover is a common problem.

Thanks again for that great info. I am having trouble finding a right size wrench to get the oil drain plug out to drain the motor oil on my Perkins/Isuzu engine. Do you know the right size? I cannot use an adjustible wrench, not enough grip. Sorry, I was not very clear on my question. Thanks again OldMachinist, Great Forum.

The only common metric size that falls in that range is 30mm but that doesn't mean they didn't use a oddball.
30mm(1.1811") would be just under 1 3/16"

OldMachinist, I will try and find a 30mm socket. I do not want to bugger the plug, while my luck is still going good for now. This plug might be an oddball. You have been a great help. Now, I have find out if I have a Perkins or Isuzu engine. Thanks again, from SO CA
