I left my LS180 next to a customer's house and when I came back the next day, the dash was hanging down. It looks like they first tried to turn the ignition with a screwdriver. When that didn't work, they took the panel off to try and jump the wires. The reason it wouldn't start is because I had surreptitiously disabled it from starting before I left it there. I put the dash back together enough to start it and discover that the ignition fuse is blown. I reach into the engine compartment and get it replaced. What a stupid place to put a fuse panel! Finally, I get it started and go to the back of the machine to close the engine compartment. That's when I see coolant gushing all over the place. The thieves tried to steal the radiator. They disconnected the hoses and bent one of the outlet tubes but they couldn't figure out how to disconnect it from the bracket. I didn't have time to repair it there so I just ran it briefly to get it loaded and out of there. I usually have the engine compartment locked. I will be more diligent about keeping it locked and not be complacent about where I leave it. If you haven't put some kind of anti-theft device on your machine, do it now!

Lovely people...... They couldn't get the machine so they went for the scrap metal from the radiator, delightful......
I hope your insurance fixes it for you, or at least you get out of it cheaply and find an effective way to prevent it happening again.

Stinkin lowlife scumbags is what they are. With scrap metal prices so high right now the bottom feeders are on the prowl. We had two air conditioners stolen off of our building about two weeks ago. I caught two kids tryin to steal an old piece of equipment from a neighbor about four weeks ago. They left out without the equipment with me in close chase, I called 911 and the dispatcher told me to go back to the "scene". I told her I was currently behind the guys and to send a deputy, she said they wouldn't do that! I hung up on the dispatcher and gave up. If things get much worse, I believe we will have to take the law into our own hands.

My dad had a radiator stolen from the front yard about a year back, it had to weigh close on 500kg. It was out of a massive crane, it was an ornimant, its now been melted down somewhere.....

I have often wondered what motivates people to steal when it is so much easier and less fraught with danger to earn a living the honest way. Perhaps it is out of desperation brought about by bad economic times or perhaps it is nothing more complicated than a mixture of human greed and laziness. Whatever the cause... good locks (shotgun optional)... as with good fences, make for secure loaders.
