Could someone explain how the basic parking brake works on this vehicle and how to go about fixing it. The pedal and rod attached to it go forward and backward, but that is it. It does not lock and does not seem to hold the Bobcat. is this a disc or drum brake like a car?

Its a disc brake, there is an adjustment, you loosen the stop nut and then tighten up the nut on the rod that is connected to the pedal, real easy!! If its all there, good luck!!

Ok, sounds easy. Will that cause the pedal to stay locked in park when I press the pedal? It does not lock now, just goes back and forth.

it will if its adjusted tight enough, just keep checking it as you tighten it, if it tightens all the way and still dosen't lock then it needs new pads or somethings not right under the access panel.

OK, there was so much oil covered saw dust in the cab, that the parking brake pedal would not go all the way. I must have vacuumed 1 cubic ft of the stuff. And more to go when I get compressed air in there to blow it from places the vacuum cannot get to. Given that my Bobcat "creeps" will I damage anything by putting on the parking brake and say getting out of the cab with the engine running. Not that I would do that, its just an example to ask the question. I know I need to deal with the "creeping".

No it will not damage anything..I use my brake for that also..I just idle it down when I want to hop out with it running..just remember to take the brake off when you go to work your skid..it will wear out your brake pads..So dos it lock and work now?
