I recently purchased a 1990 642B. I am fairly new to the forum and have already used some of the information from this site. I believe the machine has been "modified" by previous owners. There are NO gauges on this unit, only two lights, one for engine and one for hydraulics. I would like to install coolant temp, oil pressure, tach and hydraulic pressure gauges on the bobcat. Does anyone know where the sensors can be installed without drilling new holes?

There should already be a sending unit for the coolant temp, for engine oil pressure you'll need to replace the sending unit for the idiot light with ether a sending unit for a gauge or tubing to a mechanical gauge. A tach should come with instruction on how to hook it up. If you want to monitor the hydraulic pressure you'll need to install a tee in the system between the pump and control valve and plumb to a gauge. I really wouldn't recommend the hydraulic pressure gauge. If it developes a leak in the gauge or the line to it you'll have hot hydraulic oil leaking or spraying in the cab.

Thank you for your quick reply. Where would I find the sending unit for the coolant? I have looked over the engine and see nothing that looks like a sending unit. There is a "bolt/plug" in the head on the right side between the intake runners. That is the only thing I have seen.

My Mitsubishi service manual doesn't show exactly where it screws in it just shows it near the thermostat housing. Item #3 on the diagram below.
