Hi guys, I'm trying to repower an old 530 i picked up and I'm having trouble IDing the coupler that was used to couple the motor to the pumps. both the pump shaft and motor shaft are 1" tapered which then has a male splined piece attached which then has a female internal splined piece to couple the pump to the motor. My goal is to repower this beast with a gx670 Honda which comes with a couple of straight shafts as options. Any ideas?

The male and female splines are normal, are there any universal joints attached to the female section? I know on 743's they attached the uni-joints to the fly wheel that then connected to the pump, is yours essentially the same setup?

No, there isn't any u-joints. the spline itself is a 26 spline and 1.73 diameter. the optimum setup would to be to find or perhaps machine the male splined piece to match the new shaft of the Honda-But I have to think this has been done before, after all a 1 1/8" shaft is not all that rare. Jim

I just repowered a 542 b, when mounting engine, the engine crank center line and hydro center line should be straight. It would be nice if you could unbolt stock engine side spline shaft and mating flange and have an adaptor made for the honda that would allow you to bolt the stock flange in place.
