Hi I have a 94 753 Bobcat with a 40 hp Kubota engine. My bars on the coolant temp graph never goes over 1 bar. I assume my temp sender is faulty. Where is this located so i can replace it? Is there an easy way to test? I thought maybe it wasnt getting warm enough so I replaced the Tstat last winter and ran it with the rad covered. This summer I have used it occasionally and no more than 1 bar. I want to make sure it doesnt overheat. My oil pressure never shows the bottom bar, but the 2nd 3rd and 4th light up when it is running. Thanks

Lift the cab, crouch down and look to the left of the engine. Its tucked rite up next to the rocker cover near the exhaust manifold. You really need a 1" deep socket to get the rotten thing out as I'm assuming from 1 bar you have a BOSS machine. I'm waiting on a new sender for mine as its reading full scale and beeping at me when its cold. You will obviously loose your coolant doing this. The connector can be a little tough to remove too.

Your themostat my be faulty to. My 93 753 never seem to warm up acording to the guages even thought the thermostat was good. On a 85 far. degree day it would light the second bar at times when brushing. Try blocking the rad completely with card boards and run it a few minutes to see if it show warming up then. Be careful no to overheat it doing this. A hand held infered themometer is good to have.
Here are the temps for the bars my guage showed when I had it hooked to a "Boss" scanner tool.

1 Bar

0 to 190 degrees

2 Bar

190 to 198

3 Bar

198 to 204

4 Bar

204 to 210

5 Bar

210 to 217

6 Bar

217 to 224

7 Bar

224 to 231

8 Bar

230 on up warning sounds

235 engine shutdown

Well, I ran it today with cardboard covering the rad. It is 17C or about 63F. I finally got it to reach the second bar. The temp on the right rad tank was about 196F. How do I keep this thing warm in the winter?? With blocking the rad I also block the hyraulic cooler. How do I know thats not overheating? Thanks

As Ken said, it could be your thermostat is stuck open this will not let it get to temperature and on cold days it will be even worse. I'd swap out the thermostat then you should be good to go. I know you changed it already but it may be faulty? My 743 does this too, it stays cold for AGES and its a new thermostat, all i can think is it may be faulty.
I'd be very careful blocking the rad, its a good test but i wouldn't do more than use it to test. As you said your oil cooler is behind it but if it gets too hot you will be alerted there is an oil temp sender. Honestly its best for the engine to run colder than hotter, gets too hot and you will crack the head.

What did you measure the temp with to determine 196?
Did you measure the block temp with the cardboard off to see how warm the block got under normal conditions. Check at the cylinder head or t stat housing.
My engine was running a good temp, about 190 degrees, but the second bar on the temp graph was still not lit, so it never appeared to warm up Only on high demand applications like mowing brush would I ocasionally see the second bar light. I'd say be sure your t stat is good and forget the guage, or install a second auto guage just to verify it.
