    Hydraulics lower slowly.

My L555 seems to now lower slowly. If I hoist my forks in the air and remove my feet from the pedals, I notice it starts to lower by itself at the rate about a couple inches per minute. It is the 2 lifting cylinders and not the tilt cylinder. There is no hydraulic leaks. What would cause this...

    L555 Roll over question

How hard is the L555 to roll over? I have owned mine for a few years and now I seem to be nervous about rolling it. One time I picked up a pallet of wood pellets (1 ton) and had it about a foot off the ground and it nose dived. Now anytime I dont have the bucket or forks on the front I am afraid...

    Battery

I just went thru this with my L555, I had a bad battery which in turn killed my alternator which in turn drained my batteries. I bought a new battery which was also bad (my luck) and it took me a bit to figure out why. I finally disconnected both batteries and charged them up and found the new...

L555 engine oil light coming on

I would take a good look at the wire. When I got my l555 every light was lite on the panel. It was all bad wires and grounds. My wire was cracked at the sending unit. With the servicing that you had, all it takes is a gentle tug on that wire to break it.

    battery question

My L555 has 2 batteries one on each side. They at 10" x 20" approx. I would just make sure you have the cold cranking amps. I know in the winter if my batteries are not fully charged (topped off with my battery charger), I can crank for about 10 seconds before it starts to crank slower and die.

    Pre Purchase Inspection

I am no expert, but what I looked at when I bought mine (L555) was the fluids especially the hydraulic fluid paying close attention for foamy, milky or smelly (burnt). I looked at the coolant and oil, just as a clue to how well it was maintained. I would also listen to the motor at different...

    L555 Perkins water pump

For future readers, it is pressed on and I also found it is just as easy to rebuild this pump as it is to replace the pump.. so I would look for a rebuild kit for it.. FYI

    L555 Perkins water pump

Has anyone replaced a water pump? How does the pulley come off the shaft? Is it pressed on?

    L555 attachment question

Yea that is what I was thinking as far as making the bottom U hooks, but what I was wondering is the top part, would the L555 mount slip up under other manufacturers mounts?

    L555 attachment question

My L555 has the original mounting plate. I realize that is unique to NH/JD but when I look at other attachments it seem like the top of the mount is similar "^" kind of top, but doesn't have the 2 double "L" on the bottom the the lever locks onto. My question is, are there other types...

    L555 seat/belt switch

When I bought my L555 is did not have the safety switch at the seat or seat belt, The wire had been jumped. My question is, when that was in operation what got locked out if either the seat belt unlatched or seat was not sat it? I assume the hydraulics in the lift won't work, but what about the...

    L555 Roll over danger

How hard is it to roll over an L555? I was painting mine the other day and I had the boom as high as it would go with no attachment on it, I then just moved it back about 5 feet and was going to turn left a bit to reposition it in the sun, as I started forward slowly the front wheels came off...

    L553 Starting issues

There is a starter relay and a solenoid. The solenoid is mounted on top of the starter and the relay is on the other side up by the fire wall. The key send 12v to the relay which sends it to the solenoid. You may have a bad wire from the relay to the solenoid.

    L555 quick chage

Would someone be so kind as to explain the New Holland quick change for attachments as far is what it is compatible with? My L555 has what looks to be the original NH Plate. What other types of receiver plates can attach to this? If I was to build my own attachment could I just get a quick...
