Will it hurt to pull a skid steer?

I have an old Bobcat skid steer I'm working on but it's currently not running. I need to move it this week and I wondered if I can pull it with my tractor without damaging anything. I should only have to move it 50 feet or so. Is there anything I need to do first or can I just hook to it and pull it slowly. Thanks for any input.

If its hydrostatic, the wheels shouldn't turn when the hydraulic system is still full of oil. You will have to just skid it along the ground, it won't hurt anything. I have done this myself a few times.

I moved my 843 the other day with a tractor. Just like you I didn't move it far. If I park my bobcat on a slight slope it will move a little over time. The parking brake doesn.t work. It is especially noticeable when I put it on a trailer and before I can block the tires or chain it down you can watch it creep downhill. When I moved mine the other day I had a helper push the levers forward and it half rolled half skidded.

If you have the levers pushed in the direction you want it to move. the tires will drive the motors that will act like pumps if the vlaves are open(levers) it should allow everything to flow. no harm will happen.. unless you are draggin it for 10 miles.

Maybe jack it up and put some plywood under it then tow it so the wood sides without any chance of strain on the driveline.

Yesteday after pulling the engine out of my 843 my son pulled the machine out of the shop with a tractor. The 843 tires rolled as if it were in neutral - no tire skidding. As my son was pulling the machine the pump shaft was spinning. This 843 is almost 30 years old so no electronic lockout and the parking brake is out of adjustment. Is this normal or since my machine is so old that it is showing its age. I have pulled engines out of skid steers about 6-8 times and other times I put the machine on a trailer, back into shop, remove engine, pull trailer out and go to the wash bay.
