Just purchased a dump trailer built to haul the skid steer. Which way to load? Front or backwards. Was having an argument today with another person because he claims the correct way is to drive it on, not back it on. I feel backing is the correct way. Any help?

No right or wrong way but I never see skids backed onto trailers. Most skids get light on the rear end when you back it up and incline like ramps and will do a rear wheelie. Take the bucket off and you have the reverse problem driving it forward. Just put the center weight slightly forward of the Center line of the axials and your good but that kind of depends on the location of the "D" rings as well.

I had a bobcat 632 ,short wheelbase and no way could I drive it forward onto the trailer, always better to back on I think because the back end is heavier you don't have to be as far forward to get the right amount on the tongue so you have room up front for the extra junk. The general rule is 12-15 percent of load should be on the tongue. You see trailers fishtailing and swaying all over the road because they don't have enough on the tongue.

I normally back my 1845C on to the trailer because you can lower and tilt the bucket downward to stop any front end dropping. The only thing I do not like about doing it this way is the tires barely clear between the raised fenders, and sometime I have to pull ahead and try again. I like driving it off going forward.
