I cleaned up the front pulley ready to check injector timing and found 2 sets of timing marks as below:
1.4 TC and 1.4FI
3.2TC and 3.2FI
I know that the TC and FI refer to top dead center and fuel injection but what do the numbers represent? The workshop manual does not cover this topic very well.

Easy!
1.4TC means TDC for cylinder 1 and 4 FI is for the same cylinders.
3.2TC means TDC for cylinder 3 and 2 FI is for the same cylinders.
The firing order is 1 3 4 2.
The easiest way is to remove the tube line on number 1 at the injector and rotate the engine till the FI mark on 1.4FI shows and you should see the fuel well up a touch, if not rotate it 360 degrees and it should well up. Then you know the firing order from there to set the valve clearance. Injector timing shouldn't need to be touched.
If you have any other questions just give me a yell, i know these rotten engines inside and out..... I also have the work shop manual for this engine so i have all the torque settings and clearances.

Thanks Tazza, I should have thought of that, so simple really when you think about it. I just want to check it for my own peace of mind.
