Looking for a used skid steer to maintain a motocross track. I'd use it 12-15x a year for the track, and any other odd jobs around the property. Nothing crazy heavy or demanding on the machine (I guess lol). I see some taks under 2k hours for better prices than the competition.

From what I've read, they're simple and tough. However a buddy who is an operator says they're ****.. for my needs, would a tl6 or 8 hold up a while? Thanks to anyone with takeuchi experience that replies!!

how a machine was used or abused and or cared for or not cared or, , matters more than the name brand of the machine or model IMO!~

like it or not, every company makes decent machines and few make BAD ones, or specific models that were l known to be "BAD"
every MFG has let lemons go out the door at times, QC catches only a very small percentage of things!

so, it all comes down to care and use of the machine

SOME make/models maybes more user friendly for repairs, but they all seem to have good and bad in this area as well

older machines before emissions IMO< tend to be less complicated for average owners to do repairs and upkeep, if your not a skilled tech, but that doesn't mean everyone can fix them either!or no special skills or tools are needed!

IF you DON"T know much about skid steers, best advice I can give you is find someone you know that is, or you trust and take them with you to go look at possible machines

as for size of machine, I think for your needs, you will be wanting a larger sized machine, wider longer wheel base the better, for better stability on ramps and jumps, and honestly many things will NOT be done well or at all with a skid steer due to limits on what they can do!
most tracks have more than just one piece of equipment for track up keep and making, dozers come to mind here real fast! as do mid sized tractors, due to what they can do !~
