Hello Gentleman, I am looking at purchasing a 2007 T300 that caught fire from what looks like the battery compartment. I already own a 02 863 that i just rebuild the control valve on. Im a pretty handy guy and can read a manual quite well. I guess my question is... if I purchase this machine; would it be worth while and is there any opinions on rebuilding or why the engine compartment caught fire? I understand im looking at replacing 5-8k in hoses and electrical on the high end. do you think the fire could have compromised any main components like control valve, engine, pump, or drive mechanisms. should i be warned about anything else? I can attach photos if need be. As always, Thank you for you time and im happy to find an outlet for my questions. Matt

I think if you click on image it will post pic here
Just my 2¢, stay far, far, far, far away from a fire machine. Even once fixed enough that they start and move, there is always problems because you don't know what got. You bet heat can wreck engines and pumps, internal seals can be destroyed. I have also seen machines that where purposely set on fire that need expensive repairs. Guys buy them thinking its a great deal just to find they spent $10,000 to get it running and then find it has a puked drive motor.

Can't see them private
I changed the link to public. Sorry about that. let me know what you guys think. honestly, at the price im offering I can justify spending 10k and still be okay on the deal. Thats including labor. Im not sure how long it was burning for, but id like to think much of the black smoke seen around the lift arm is superficial. oil and grease burning is likely to make it look worse. The idea of somebody intentionally lighting the machine up due to a major mechanical failure seems to make sense, but someone did get hurt in this fire and that is typically not intentional.

I just rebuilt a fire damaged machine about 2 years ago and if I had it to do over again I would let it pass, It is a lot more to it than what it looks like on the surface.

I have done two burnt machines, one i believe was set on fire on purpose, but it did turn out to be a nice machine that i sold a few years later for about what it cost me. It gave me quite a few years of trouble free service.
The other was only mildly burnt, it was a 751 that took out the radiator hoses, blower, blower housing and a few hoses. The fuel tank survived, not sure how but it did. Took out wiring too.
New harness and other melted parts and it was a very nice machine.
When they are badly burnt, and being a AHS machine like that, you may be in for a bad time. I don't know what could happen to the computer as the wires melt and short out. AHS or SJC machines have every expensive parts, unlike the normal hand and foot controls that are a lot easier and cheaper.

I have known a couple of guys that fixed fire machines and they wouldn't do it again.
