I am thinking about changing the hydraulic fluid in my Case 1845C and I am wondering if someone can tell me what brands of synthetic fluid they use, part numbers for a crossover/conversion, and anything else with their experiences with synthetic. I can get a discount on Mobil products through work, so if Mobil provides a compatible synthetic I would prefer Mobil. I figured that since it needs to be changed, now would be a good time to switch over. I really cringe when it is cold and I hear a loud squealing sound for about 5 minutes, or until the fluid warms up. I never hear this squealing in the spring, summer, or fall. The loader is not kept in a heated building, and stays outside all the time. It seems to only happen when the temperature gets down to about 35 degrees F. I was told that the synthetic fluid would not only stop the squealing, but I guess it is also better for the seals, and can reduce wear much better than the regular hydraulic fluid............thanks.

How heavy is the oil that is in there now? Because 35 f is not really that cold. Even 15/40 dino oil will flow it that temp with a short warm up. I run 10/30 year round here in canada but I do have indoor parking. Synthetics would be good but can get expensive. I have heard of switching to lighter dino oil like 5/30 and suppose there is no reason synthetic won't work.
So long as your charge pressure come up within 30 seconds or so then the oil is beginning to circulate and you really should not hurt anything by letting it idle for 5 minutes at this point to warm the fluid. Then drive off in a straight line and avoid pushing things for a couple minutes while the warm oil pumps through the wheel motors
Does case spec a motor oil for your machine?
