So how much weight are you lifting with your bobcat and forks?

I just finally ordered a set after this new years. I wasnt going to waste the money thinking the bobcats wouldnt lift much, but while picking stuff up for a bonfire i decided i would pick up a large tree i had laying around, it was 12ft long, 18-26 inches in diameter, pinched it in the bucket and lifted it out lengthwise, and it actually picked it up. It was teatering a little bit but i couldnt believe it. There was 10ft of tree trunk sticking out in front of the bobcat, the heavy end no less and it picked it up. I figured the tree trunk was atleast 1,000 probably 1500lbs. So i ordered a set of forks and i'm curious what they will lift. I have a 751 with rear axle weights, I know the tipping load is about 1250lbs on these. I have a bunch of spare 275 gallon totes for so i was going to fill one up and see how much it will actually lit since i can accurately measure in gallons. How much do you all lift with yours?

Leverage is part of it. All depends on what your picking up and where it is on your forks, closer to machine, more it can lift. Forks are rated at 2' on 48" forks. I think you have a 751, lift capacity is 1200, tipping is 2400. Kinda weird as the 743 was rated at 1300, thought the 751 would be more. My 873 is rated at 2300, I would guess tipping is over 4000. In the attachment section I posted a picture under pallet forks of me trying to straighten my twisted fork frame, I was picking the back end of a little ford ranger truck with the tips of the forks. It was scary how easily it would pick it up like that.

The forks will handle much more posted weight than the rating. One job we did at work was to install a large retaining wall at the local hospital. Each retaining block weighed just over 2000lbs. With our T250 I was able to lift 3 block at a time and actually move them around. Did it pick up the rear of the machine, you bet it did, but not to the point where I couldn't drive the block to a desired area. I didnt do this on a regular basis I mainly transported 2 block for obvious reasons. But when the Catapiller salesman came around I just had to show off a bit. Of course, the 277 he was trying to push on us couldnt even lift 2 blocks stacked together. The limit switches would kick in and the machine would only make a sickly, squealing noise. So I couldnt resist stacking 3 block together, lifting them up and driving away waving.

Yeah 2400lbs tipping is what i meant haha. I would really like to pick up a pallet of salt (2520bs) but i doubt it will do that. I will definitely check it out though. It will be nice to have forks just for picking up things around here. I did remove my bucket and load it on my trailer, bottomed it out coming back down the trialer, couldnt safely drive back on to get it, the front end just kept come off of the ground, thats when i realized how weighted in the rear the loader actually is. It's was a 2ft beaver tail, very low heavy duty landscape trailer too not even an equipment trailer. Ive never loaded bobcats pull on, always back on, but i recently got a new trailer to pull behind my touareg, got rid of my silverado and 22,000lb trailer so tongue weight is a little more of a limitation haha. I used to move some split face blocks with T190s, they would tilt the pallet, not lift them, you could tilt them off of a truck flatbed, back off and lower them, but not pick them up, but those were easilly 3500-4,000lb pallets of block. The T300 would lift them though.

i built my forks from a 10K forklift , i was able to pickup the mast with it so i would guess it was pushing the 2K mark .

I got my forks yesterday, just tried them out today, I got them for $575 shipped from titan distributors on amazon. They were offering free shipping, and at that price i couldnt pass it up. i do have to grind a little bit down my bob tach wedges are had to get in but the forks seem very well built. I did pick up that tree at the very tip of my forks, the bobcat didnt even want to tip at all so i am really curious to see how much it will lift.

I have a set of bobcat forks and they can really take some abuse. I can pick up whatever my T200 will lift and the forks don't bend or nothing. I move pallets of landscape stone that weighs 4000+ lbs. on a regular basis. I also like to use the forks to remove shrubs and trees. I take one of the forks off the rack and then use the fork that is still on to dig up the roots of whatever I am trying to up root. You would be surprised how big of a tree you can uproot with the forks.

I see Titan sells their forks on ebay also. I have been eyeing up a set of their 42" forks but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I see on ebay they list free shipping to a commercial address but for home or home business they charge $75 extra. How were yours shipped? If they are well made and look like they will hold up, the price is great.

Well i am not sure how it works on Amazon, but i know with amazon prime you're supposed to get free shipping regardless i believe. One thing i did find really strange when they were shipped to my house though was that they came adressed to Bad-Ass Brewing Co, which is the company i incorporated in November, we havent officially started up but i incorporated it at my home address so titan distributors must have looked up the address and my name and assumed it was a commercial address. Fed Ex freight brought them, they told me it wasnt a problem since it was a farm and easily accessible with a tractor trailer.. I do have a set of traier axles coming today too from R&L carrier and i mentioned it was a farm not residential they said that's fine farms are as easily accessible. I only have two acres on my land but i border my parents 102 acres farm. They didnt mind as long as a tractor trailer can get turned around and can be unloaded with a forklift or dock which is no problem.

I was messing around decided to pick up a couple things and take some pics, still havent picked up a full pallet of salt or filled a tote with water to see how much it will actually lift. This is the tree i picked up straight out with the bucket already. This dumpster i also put all the way at the end of the forks where it just barely wouldnt fall off. It's full of trash, im sure its over 1,000lbs No problems lifting either at all. didnt bog down or move when i was jumping on them.

Thanks for bringing up this post, you just re-lite a fire under me to get a set. You could have waited until a bit longer after xmas to do so. I had to buy my wife a new refrigerator for $1600, and I told my daughter I would pay her airfare to new zealand for christmas, another $1800 down the drain. Not to mention getting her a ipad for about the price of a set of forks. Now its time to get something for me and where did all my $$$ go? How long did the shipping take?

I had to buy my wife a new refrigerator for $1600, and I told my daughter I would pay her airfare to new zealand for christmas, another $1800 down the drain. Dang reaperman, You've just confirmed my suspicion, I'll keep the bobcat hating girlfriend, a girlfriend lol : D Seriously though, keep an eye on craigslist and the equipment auctions if your into that sort of thing. Locally they bring around $400 at the auctions, brand new.
