I recently purchased a Komatsu SK35 loader. The machine works great but when I'm driving it over rough or uneven terrain and I come up and out of the seat, because of the back and forth movement, the machine shuts off! Komatsu must have designed a seat safety switch that prevents the operator from getting out of the seat with the engine running. I wonder if anyone out there can tell me if Komatsu, or an aftermarket company, sells a seat and sensor combination that I can use for rough terrain. I'm using the SK35 next week in an uneven area and I don't feel safe disconnecting the seat sensor switch but I don't want the machine shutting down when I drive over uneven ground. Please help.

This may seem like a simple fix, but does this machine have a seat belt? I know if I am working on rough terrain, or in the seat for long periods at a time, I always wear the seat belt and tighten it as tight as comfortable.

Depending on the seat design, many suspensions are adjusted by operator weight. Say you are a 150 lbs and the seat is adjusted for a 275 lbs guy. Main reason Bobcat got away from seat switch. 100 lbs wife would get in and would constantly get thown around by being too light for the switch.

Thanks Bobcatdan. I see your point. I weigh 200 lbs. and I'm 6 foot tall. I don't see any way to adjust the seat for my weight. Do you know if there is an aftermarket seat kit that I can buy for my machine?

If its a simple two wire seat switch, just jump it and be down with.

You say it shuts down, does it shut down the engine or lock the brakes up?
I had a 753 that when you bounce it around hard enough it would turn off due to the fuel shut off solenoid being a little out of alignment. It was just holding on but when bouncing around it wouldn't have the power and would drop and turn off. You could simply push the lever back and it would lock in place, so it was the coil.
Could this be your issue too?
