Boom Hydraulic Actuator Pin Broke

Well, my brother was using our skid steer with the brush hog attached. He was pivoting the brush hog down and broke the pin that the upper hydraulic actuator attaches and is heald on to the boom. Part of the pin is still stuck in the bore of the housing. As a 1/2" bolt goes through the pin to keep the secure it to the boom, it looks like the pin is just slightly larger then the housing and will need to be punched out. I tried a screw driver, but no luck as it wouldn't budge. As I have to go through the bore of the boom, it can only be so big. I am hoping a 5/8" pin will work and no be too big. I attached some pictures to help explain it.

Anyone have this happen before?

You could drill the hole all the way through the pin and then use a long bolt and nut through the hole and a large socket to brace the bolt and tighten the bolt against the socket to pull the pin out. If that makes sense. Sometime just the drilling will loosen it.

You could also stick weld a bead inside the pin the shrink it.

Becauseof all the grease in there, would really need to clean it out to weld. May try the bolt method or punch it out. The pin is just thick enough that even though a 1/2" bolt goes through it into the bore of the boom, the bore hole of the boom is larger then the pin, so abouth 1/8" of pin is exposed to try and punch it out. I could get a screwdriver on it, but wasn't enough. If I gad a solid rod that was just big enough to go through the bore of the boom, it would hit the inner portion of the pin. We shall see. Taking it hone from our cabin to work on it or take it in.

If some of the pin is sticking out then you could try to use a large “C” clamp by blocking the larger side of the pin hole.

Also, if you are good with a sledge hammer you could directly hit the pin with the hammer.
