Got a 2016 S70 (only 200 hours)......and it whines as soon as you give it some decent RPM's. No leaks I can see....hydro oil is in middle of stick, unit functions as it should. The only time it DOES NOT whine is when the lift arms go UP. Ideas?????
Check that there are no loose fasteners on hoses and pipes, the sound may be vibrational. I do not quite understand the meaning of the word "whines" Cavitation in the hydraulic system also causes a specific sound.I wonder if the oil could be thick due to being cold?
When warm, does the noise go away at all?
Another issue could be a plugged filter, the whine *may* be a relief, but i'd suspect you'd get a light if it was by-passing at the filter.
It used to do it louder (or more)....after it got heated up and used for like a 1/2 hour or so. But now the whine happens right from the get go, and remains constant.I wonder if the oil could be thick due to being cold?

It "sounds" like it either has an air leak, and air somehow, somewhere is getting sucked in.....OR there is a blockage someplace, and restricting enough fluid to be moved around....thus creating the whine. The whine sounds like that high pitch sound when a hydraulic function is either "left on"....or trying to "engage"....that's the only way I can describe it. But it does go away when the lift arms get raised.....It used to do it louder (or more)....after it got heated up and used for like a 1/2 hour or so. Try to locate where this sound comes from, is it possible to be from the hydraulic reservoir? If the vent is clogged (it is built into the cap) it can cause it because when the cylinders stretch, they take up a lot of oil and the amount of oil from the tank, tank pressure decreases, the sounds disappear. This is an option. It is easy to check ... remove the cap and the sound should disappear. It "sounds" like it either has an air leak, and air somehow, somewhere is getting sucked in.....OR there is a blockage someplace, and restricting enough fluid to be moved around....thus creating the whine. Not the breather.....took it off....and made no difference. With the cab up and while poking around......the hydro filter and large main line from the main drive pump has a pretty good vibration to it.....but all seem tight and no leaks, no air in oil etc. Ideas????Try to locate where this sound comes from, is it possible to be from the hydraulic reservoir? Hydraulic fitler may clogged. Is there any charge pressure code? 3 hoses should come to the filter. One comes from the hydraulic valve, one of the hydraulic radiator from it with a tee goes third to the hydrostatic pump, is it with you? The hydrostatic pump uses a charge pressure from the return line of the valve, which passes through the filter through the tee and goes to the hydrostatic pump. So I ask if there is a pressure charging code. If the filter is clogged, it can cause vibration and insufficient charging pressure. Not the breather.....took it off....and made no difference. The filter and hydro oil was replaced this past November Bobcat....right before I took ownership.....No codes....no lights on dash.
The hydraulic filter changes to 1000 hours, shifts it if time has come and see if there will be a change ... this vibration looks like a clogged filter or thick oil. Does the hydrostatic pump vibrate or just hose to the filter? The filter and hydro oil was replaced this past November Bobcat....right before I took ownership.....
I'm sorry, now I read that the machine is only 200 hours ... why did they change the filter and the oil? Do you have any problem with the pump ???? No one changes the hydraulic oil to 200 hours. What happened to this machine??? Check case drain filters on the hydromotors , look for studs in them. The hydraulic filter changes to 1000 hours, shifts it if time has come and see if there will be a change ... this vibration looks like a clogged filter or thick oil. Actually they replaced the hydro filter.....along with all the other filters. I don't "believe" the hydro oil was changed.....I believe just topped off.....I'm sorry, now I read that the machine is only 200 hours ... why did they change the filter and the oil? Any other thoughts on this one......problem has yet to be found.....Actually they replaced the hydro filter.....along with all the other filters. I don't "believe" the hydro oil was changed.....I believe just topped off.....
Does it change when the hyrdo levers are pushed forward/backwards? If it does, look for loose linkage. If no, run a pressure test on the hydraulics. A pressure gauge on the aux. port will do. Make sure it is putting out the correct pressure. If not, check for air intrusion, damaged pressure relief or pump. Chances are, they changed the filter trying to fix the noise.Any other thoughts on this one......problem has yet to be found.....
We try to help, however, without knowing more / where the sound comes from / we can not guess. Another possibility for sound is a faulty anti-cavitation valve. Try to be more precise in the description of the problem.Any other thoughts on this one......problem has yet to be found.....
Sounds like it's coming from the actual filter area.....but it's so damn hard to hear exactly because of the racket of the engine! I'm going to change the filter later this week.....we'll see if that changes anything....DOUBTFUL I know......We try to help, however, without knowing more / where the sound comes from / we can not guess. And no.....the noise does NOT change when the drive levers are moved forward or backwards. The only time is goes away is when the bucket is LIFTED.....Sounds like it's coming from the actual filter area.....but it's so damn hard to hear exactly because of the racket of the engine!
