Posted: 06-07-2016 01:32 PM I purchased a used 2011 S205 Bobcat skid-steer in May 2016. I bought it with the hour meter not working. The man I bought it from said it likely has 2,000- 3,000 hours on it. (The hour-meter/instrument panel costs over $800 from the Bobcat dealer, and that is why the owner said he did not replace it.) When I got it home I decided to buy a new hour meter panel for it from eBay so that I know when to do maintenance work like changing the oil. It is a genuine Bobcat instrument panel, which includes the hour meter on its digital display. I put the new panel on my Bobcat and everything works: RPM idle, voltage, and hour meter, but the hour meter reads 9003.0. I'm not sure what to think or do at this point. I thought after putting the new instrument panel in that the hour meter should have shown zero hours? I don't understand why it's showing 9003 hours. Has anyone had any experience with changing the hour meter panel and this type of issue? Thanks, Rick

dude its got 9003 hrs on it hrs are stored in computer not panel makes you feel any beter she should reset to zero in about 998 hrs

Oh man! That really sucks!! It sounds like that machine went around the block more than a few times. I don't think there is much to do, but to use it for a good while. How much did you pay for it? Where was this seller located (city / state)??

I paid $15,600; I bought it from a guy in Ann Arbor, MI.

I can't believe that it has that many hours on it. Everything seems tight and engine looks clean and runs good. I will be shocked and just sick if that is the correct hours on the machine.

If it still runs well, i wouldn't be worried. If those are genuine hours, it would probably be on it's second engine and have a fair bit of pivot point wear.

Could it possibly have the wrong computer in it? Meaning, did the original computer go bad & then another one was installed in its place?? If it looks that good, then this could be a plausible scenario, too. Just think of where they might have gotten a replacement computer.........EBAY?!?!? What was wrong with the other hour meter display??

That is another possible situation too. Soon enough it will have 0 hours up :)

Its about all I can come up with, especially since he says it looks so good & it is a tight machine.
Thanks for all the info, the old panel digital display area for the hours/amps/rpm was not working. The fuel and temp gauge, however, did work, but they are separate from the digital hour/amp/rpm display. It is not possible to replace the hour/rpm/charging meter display without replacing the whole instrument panel . So, I had to replace the entire panel (which includes the fuel and temp gauge readouts). But after replacing it the hours on the machine now reads 9,003 hours
