Have any of you all ever replaces the front crankshaft oil seal on an 853. It seems like a fairly easy process except for the fact that the service manual says you need a MEL 1264 tool to install the new seal and the dealership has no idea what tool that is. They want to replace the seal with a cost of about $400. BTW - the service manual also refers to this seal as the "timing gear case cover seal.

I looked at the 753 Izuzu service manual and the tool is just a seal driver. You can use a piece of pipe/tubing the right size or a large socket to drive the new seal in. Even better is if you have access to a lathe is to turn and bore a piece to work.

If you take your time, i'm sure you could even use a pin punch. Machining a sleeve to install it is the best option, but if its not available, a punch would get it done too.
