I am looking for fuel, temp and amp gauges for a complete 743 restore. Not having any luck with OEM parts. Is there anything special about the temp and fuel gauges? There are a bunch of 2" equipment gauges out there, just not 1980's vintage bobcat
I just replaced the temp and volt gauge on my 743. You can use generic gauges but have to modify the housing quite a bit. The originals mount differently and you have to enlarge the hole a little. 2" gauges are a LITTLE over 2". Originals would be better if your doing a complete rebuild. I was just trying to get mine functional.I would think that you would be okay with generic gauges on this age of machine, so long as you replace the sending unit with one appropriate for your selected gauge.

I bought OEM ones a few years back, they weren't stupidly priced really. At least that way, they worked to give the correct fuel level.I just replaced the temp and volt gauge on my 743.
