I was given a OMC series 1000 . This machine has no parking brake or any way to stop the machine if the motor shuts down ( free wheels ) I am going to be using the machine to maintain a dirt road and driveway which is mostly up hill. Not wanting to go for a ride if the hydraulics shut down I am looking for ideas as to fabricating some type of emergency brake or if I can possibly put in a back up 12 volt hydraulic system on the machine . Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated 12 volt hydraulic back up pump tied into hydraulic system with check valves . Switch activated In Operating area is what I am thinking?
