No Hydraulics; Need to Raise Boom

The suction line connection at the bottom of the hydraulic oil tank popped off in my L865. The machine ran out of oil so now Ive got no hydraulics, but I need to raise the boom to gain access to make the repair. Anyone got any ideas on how I can do this?

Remove the pins from the rod ends of the boom cylinders and use another loader to lift the boom so you can extend the boom locks.

That does make it more difficult. I have a portable pump which I attach to the bottom end of one of the boom cylinders. If you look at the bottom side of the cylinder you will see a plug facing outward. You can remove this plug and attach a hose to the cylinder and if you have something that can provide hydraulic power, tractor, hand pump, or whatever you can raise the boom this way. The plug size is 34/ x 16 ORB and should be available anywhere they make hoses. Remove the line from the top of the boom cylinder so the oil can escape from the top end of the cylinder. You probably can also just lock the boom foot pedal in the float position and not remove the top line. Have someone in the cab to engage the boom lock when the boom gets high enough.

Don't know if the float position would work. Have someone press the foot pedal like they are raising the boom.
