No Hydraulic Pressure until 3 or 4 re-starts

Hello All, I have a Bobcat 7753 with a strange intermitting problem. Lately when I crank the engine, I have no hydraulic pressure on any of the controls. Sometimes after increasing engine speed immediately after cranking, I hear and feel the hydrostatic pump kick in and I have full normal power and controls. Sometimes I have to shut the engine down and restart several times in order to kick the hydro pump into pumping. When the machine works, it works perfectly well. The hydro fluid level (Bobcat brand fluid) is up to the top line and the filter is pretty new. The belt seems tight but I don't know how tight it's supposed to be. Any experts out there that can give me any insight? ...Much appreciated!

It certainly sounds like a loose drive belt. There should be instructions/drawings of how to tension the belt on the inside of the tailgate. I usually tighten using a 2 foot prybar with a bent end, not too much force or you'll damage the bearings, but there should be very little deflection. If the tensioner is a newer type, it will have a pointer that should point toward 9:00 I think, for proper tension. The older type had no pointer, so you were supposed to use the special tool from bobcat to set to exact specs.
