New to me equipment

Here's my latest acquisition for the shop. A 9” x 16” W.F. Wells model L-9 horizontal band saw. It's a little bigger than I was looking for but the price was right.

It came with a 48” unloading table, coolant trough and tank.

Last month I upgraded to a newer milling machine. A 1973 9” x 42” Bridgeport J head.

Very nice. I have a little bandsaw that can do maybe 4“, possibly a bit larger. I am thinking about making it coolent fed, but we'll see if that happens. I have a larger old one that needs a motor and the gearbox is sad, i didn't get a chance to make the gears before my machinist friend passed, he was going to teach me how to cut the angled gear. It is about the same size as the one in your picture, just possibly newer
I do love the fact you can setup a cut and walk off, unlike a cold saw or chop saw that you need to be there pushing it to cut. Start a cut and come back and it's done, leaving you do other jobs.

Good metal bandsaws like those at one of the greatest power tools ever invented. I have a decent one at work and it amazes me how much nice it is then a chop saw.
