Hi all, I'm a new owner of an L783, am still waiting to get my hands on the owner's manual. Had some fits with the hydraulic system, shop found some pipe thread sealant on one of the hydraulic filters, is recommending a complete replacement of the fluid and of the filters. Unfortunately, price for labor and supplies is out of my budget right now. What should I use for the hydraulic fluid/oil? It's for use in Missouri if temps make any difference. Also, what's a good source for the filters? Thanks!

A filter and fluid change is a good idea, filters from the dealer are not always really that bad. They sell so many of them, the prices are generally pretty good vs what you can get after market ones for.
As for oil, i can't rell you. I believe AW46 should be ok, but don't hold me to that. Homefully Mike10 will give you his advise

Thanks Tazza. Good call, yes, I should just get the filters from the dealer. They're wanting $315 for the hydraulic oil though, hope to find a cheaper source for that.

The price on the oil does seem too much to me too. If it was still under warranty then you need the genuine fluid, but any older machines i see no issue running engine oil or heavier hydraulic fluid.
I personally run 20W50, i'm from Australia, so we never get below freezing.

I use fluid from Tractor Supply. It is in a yellow 5 gal can or in 2 gal plastic. In Ohio it runs $30 for 5 gal.You may need around 16-18 gallons. I also get all my filters from NAPA. I use NAPA gold filters. Good luck. Ron
