I'm picking up my 1998 LX865 tomorrow morning, the engines in the bucket currently. I'm having difficulty finding actual specs online for this machine. Specifically the engine model so I can get a rebuild kit ordered for it. I've been reading through the other threads pertaining to the lx865 and there's a ton of awesome information here, thanks guys!! Chuck

Engine should be Ford 332T (3 cyl/3.2L/Turbocharged). I think same as used in some Ford/NH tractors from that era.

Hopefully the damage isn't too nasty. Do let us know what you find when it arrives.

I picked it up early this morning. It was an adventure.... The motor's been apart already by a "mechanic" who said it had a scored cylinder wall and that he could jug it for $2800, then he skipped town with a hoochie and left this guy hanging. So i get to pick up the pieces :) It's missing injectors and one side cover (rear engine bay cover), but i THINK the rest of it's there. I'm still sorting through it. I'm waiting on my service manual to arrive.

If it is just a scored bore, that can be fixed. Sounds like you may have gotten a good deal. Injectors hopefully won't run you too much.

It turns out after further investigation that it sheared a lobe off the cam, and dropped a connecting rod cab/bearing which in turn broke the oil pump off. Needless to say, it needed a motor. So we scored a new engine from Nation Equipment Sales out of Ohio, so far its been a good install. My father and I are working on it in our free time. We had everything hooked up and ready to run but it turns out the new motor had a bad injector pump. The guys who sold it to use are great and are footing the bill for repairs! So we should be up and running by next week sometime. Excited to see it run!

So the new motor with 0 hours on it has a bad injection pump. The fuel lever won't release to allow fuel in. Solenoid functions correctly, fuel deliver is a fire hose, no fuel out of injector lines at pump. So it's off to the shop at the expense of the motor sales company. :)

What did that new engine cost? I have a local shop I work with and I had just over 5K in a rebuilt engine. It needed a block, crank, pistons, turbo, injectors etc etc.... Don't junk any of the old parts!!! Sell them here or on ebay. Parts from those engines are expensive and hard to come by!

We paid 5k shipped to the door. I've got an injection pump, rebuildable head, block etc if anyone needs them. No fuel injectors

How about an email address for contacting. I don't have a need for anything right now, but I am looking at picking up an LS180 with a bad engine. Thanks
