New Holland L553 lost reverse

I lost reverse in my New Holland L553. When I drive it forward and try to stop it makes a clicking sound and stops. If I try to run backwards it moves slowly and makes a clicking sound first then the sound goes away. When the machined is cold it does not make the noise and it works fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. I have already checked the relive valves on the pumps they looked ok. Any help will be greatly appreciated
