Hello, First off, what a great site with great participants. I have learned so much about my machine from browsing here I have a Deere 575 which I believe is basically the same as the L455. It has the control module for the restraint system. Thanks to this site, I believe have figured out the proper seat switch and belt operation and sequencing but I am still having a problem with the unit starting. When I sit in the seat, the timer and seat light comes on, when I buckle the belt the belt light comes on and when I turn the key on, the sol light comes on but the unit will not turn over to start. I believe that the white wire comes from the switch to the control module and I do have power to that wire at the control module when I turn the key switch to start. I also believe that the white wire with the blue strip goes to the starter relay in the engine compartment. This white wire with the blue stripe does not get power when the key is in the start position even though the white wire does. This behavior is the same whether or not the toggle switch on the control module is set to run or service. It does not start in the service position. This is "normal" for this machine but every so often it works just fine. Please help me figure out why the starter relay is not getting consistent power. Thank you, Jhans

Clean and check all fuses and relays seat switch and belt switch
antfarmer2, thanks for the suggestion. I cannot find any fuses on this machine. I did replace both the 15 amp and 6 amp circuit breakers in the engine compartment but I now suspect they were good before as I have always had power to start it intermittently. When I sit on the seat, the seat light illuminates on both the roll cage column and the control module, when I buckle the belt, the seat light on the column goes out and the belt led on the control module comes on. When I turn the key to "run" the sol light comes on so I am pretty certain that the restraint system is working correctly. What does not happen is the "start" led on the control module does not illuminate, the engine does not turn over and the white wire with dark blue strip does not receive voltage when I move the key to the start position. The control module does get 12v through the white wire when the key is in the start position. The unit will not crank with the control module toggle in the service position. I can have someone jump the starter at the starter solenoid and the machine will work as it should. It is not getting power to the starter relay when the key is turned to the start position. Thank you.

How old is the machine? There are schematics on the deere site that may help. It seems there must be a fuse panel there somewhere. One drawing I looked at showed what looked like one but no time right now. On the new Holland about year 2000 there is a fuse panel under thumbscrews in the right overhead and one in the engine room.

There are not fuses, at least on the NH machines. Here is a link to troubleshoot the operator restraint system......http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=54&frmView=ShowPost&PostID=66376

Jerry and Mike, Thanks for the replies. Mike, I had read that post which is why I am pretty comfortable that the circuit is working correctly. Over lunch, I wen to start the machine and it started just fine with the start light on the control module coming on at the same time the key was turned to the start position. I then moved the bundle of wires going to the control box and it would not work (no start light), then moved them again and got it to work again so I now think I have a bad connection in the connector leading to the box or a short. I will keep you posted. Thank you, Jhans
