Hi, I have a 2006/07 New Holland L180 Skidsteer. It will just turn off in mud operation. Earlier, I ran it for a half hour no problem. Then, it died as I was putting along, screeched to a halt. I cranked and nothing. So, I thought maybe I disconnected from my seat, so I unplugged seatbelt, hopped up and down, plugged in and it started for a minute or two... repeat. Then it got to where it would not start. So, to get me through, I decided to bypass my seat and belt switches. I wired in a couple of toggles. One for seat and one for belt. Won't start. I do not know what to do. I heard of a service mode, service switch, and in service manual I found service/run switch in writing, but no pic or location or how to operate it. I have read of men using that to bypass all the troublesome electrical glitches and get it started, so I want to find this elusive switch. Thank ye kindly if you can get me to it and tell me how to operate it. -Mike

I'm not a skid steer mechanic, but Mike10 who IS, said my L185 does NOT have a service/run switch. Maybe yours is the same. And I was looking through my L185 shop manual yesterday and I happened to notice that there is a safety factor built into the electronic circuitry that either won't allow the engine to start or hydraulics to work if the seat belt is fastened but not buckled around the operator in the seat. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Are you sure you are getting fuel to the injection pump. For a wiring diagram of the start circuit with each circuit color coded, go to haytalk.com - Forums - Machinery. At the top of the forum are some pinned threads. Choose MY NH Repair etc. Scroll down to the skid steer heading and click on the correct diagram you need. This will show you where you should have power. Also be sure the aux hyd handle or foot pedal is in the neutral position since this can interrupt the power to the fuel shutoff solenoid on the injection pump. Engine will crank but not start.
