Hello, I have a New Holland 228 that was having starting issues and now doesn't try at all. I can sit on the seat and the column post lights up like it's supposed to but when I press the start button it just goes blank and throws an error code "1051 ". Fuses are good in the fuse blocks. Some of the older models used to have a couple diodes in the wiring harness but haven't found any on this unit. Any ideas out there or anyone have the same problem?

well have you ruled out the battery being BAD or GOOD by load testing it
from there how about battery connections and wires, are they good and solid?
NO corrosion?
and checked from both ends, battery to fuse box, to starter and so on
corrosion can cause all sorts of issues and is very common!

My son was working on the unit until he got sidetracked by other equipment needing attention. He's usually pretty good at getting this stuff figured out but I'll run it past him. Thanks for the feedback!

As the man said check the cables I once had a unit that was older and I could not find any issues with it not starting until I noticed the ground cable was swollen near the engine block. Changed that and it was all better. So corrosion is a major issue Or can be. Good luck with all this.
