I have an opportunity to purchase this (needs work) skid steer but it seems someone has remove all identifying tags! I would appreciate any help in determining the Model number. I am leaning toward 743 or 843 but all I am basing that on is the green paint job on the back corner!

The owner looked as I directed him to that location but he said he found nothing there! Kind of puzzled me!

That could be a 500, 600, 700 or 800 series. Too hard to see scale the size.
Try to identify the engine. I tried to look at several different photos but could not find that engine configuration. Make sure those photos aren't reversed.

This not so good photo was another view of the engine. It seems to be in with the injectors facing the side of the machine and not the rear! Thanks for you input! I was trying to use the paint scheme on the rear corner to figure out the model but that proved to be elusive and multiple options! Definitely a 1990 year!

If it has only three injectors it is probably a 600 series. A lot of times the serial number is also stamped under the seat. I have seen tags or stamped numbers about where the brake lever is.

Also the only reason to remove the id plate is if it was stolen sometime in its past. Tire size 600 and 700 both used 10/16.5 the 800 series used 12/16.5

Thanks, it was one of my first thoughts that it may have a tainted history. Did Clark make Bobcats for a while? The owner said he found Clark 640 decal led on it!

Except for the cab, it looks like a 700 or 800. My 743 and 853 doesn't have the green stripes like you mentioned. 853 is a 92 and the 743 is a 88. And that engine looks to be a older version to me. So ????

Don't waste your time on stolen equipment with no identification tags because the manufacturer has hidden stamps that are well known to the authorities and if your caught in possession of it they will take the machine away from you and you could face criminal charges.

I have a 743 with kubota diesel 1988 looking to rebuild do you know where the id numbers are on the motor
The engine ID is stamped on the flat right next to the injection pump facing up.
All 743's came factory equipped with a V1702IDI engine.
Don't rebuild it, replace it with a V2203DI, it will be the best thing you can do.
I did mine years ago and it's worked its tail end off since then!
