Hi to all, Ill try to make this short and sweet. I am thinking of trading my '89 743 for a '97 753 with the boss system. My 89 model 743 has 2500 hours and runs perfect, no blowby starts good in cold and was taken care of, if I didnt know better if would say it only has 1000 hours on it. A friend of mine has a 97 753 with 2000 hours and has had it for 10 years on a farm. It never really got worked too hard either. His has the boss system and steel tracks that go with it, tires are good, This machine needs a bath and a full service, though he has done it its due for it. What im wondering is these machines seem alot alike in lift capacity an 753 has a few more horse. Will the 753 outwork mine? I have no problems with horsepower on the 743, I do wish the lift cap was higher, it seems like it doesnt take much to get her tipsy, even a full scoop of rock will do it. Have they done anything different to make this better, Longer wheelbase? MY friend will sell his for 9,000 maybe 8500 bucks with tracks and I dont know what mines worth, I was thinking about asking 7000 and seeing what happens maybe take less. Do you guys think the swap is worth it? or are they so simular I should just keep what ive got. Also can anybody tell me if this boss system is good or something to stay away from. They have only done minor repairs to it, hoses, leaky valve, and maybe repacked tilt cylinder, I actually grew up with the guy and he wouldnt steer me wrong on the machine so im more concerned if the 2,000 dollars difference is worth it or not, also what do you guys think about those prices, you wont affend me i promise. Thanks alot and take care

As a former Bobcat mechanic I must say that the Boss system may have been a good idea but seems to create more problems than it prevents. The sensors always seem to 'act up' at the worst time and as the whole system ages I'm sure it will become less reliable.

I wouldn't say there is any real big difference between the two for $2000 more. Plus you know your machine and it condition better that someone elses used one... If you want to do more that the 743 is capable of I would look for a 773 as you want more lift height or look for an 8 series machine the 863 with its longer wheel base is quite a bit more stable that the 743

Lifting capacity is pretty much the same, as is the wheelbase. The 753 does have a fair bit more power and you WILL notice it. As stated, the BOSS system can be a pain the in butt, but when its working, its great! but when its not......
The 743 as you know is fully mechanical, very simple to repair, the BOSS machines have a lot of electronics and more expensive senders.
