I have a new problem that has recently surfaced. When I start the 2040 I have to wait a few minutes before I can raise the arms. After that everything runs good. If I turn the machine off the same thing occurs. It is a foot pedal operated and this is the left pedal that operates the arms. The pedal is rigid and then it becomes free. Any suggestions? The right pedal that operates the bucket works fine right away.

Not familair with your particular model but on our newer 2044 there is a lock solenid at the spool valve that locks the valve so the pedals cant move. I would look to see how the lock operates if it is electrical i would try swapping the locks from one valve to the other to see if the problem follows the solenoid or the valve
