Has anyone had any experience with these chains http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0RHQ0dP2IY ? I realize that if the mud is deep enough to drag the bottom of my NH Lx665 the chains won't help much. I have slick foam filled tires and in the last couple of years it seems to rain so much that our farmland never dries up. There are many times I can't use my machine when I would like to. I wonder if these would help without being more trouble to install than they are worth? If better tires would do as much maybe that is the way to go. All my use is on dirt, no pavement or nails, glass, etc.

Doesn't look like much mud to me. listen when he scoops up the mud, you can hear him hitting the gravel subsoil underneath. 4 inches of mud is nothing, try the bottomless stuff = stuck. I'm pondering OTT's for the mud and logging but am unsure how it will affect the drivetrain wear and tear. Some say disconnecting the front drive chain is the way to go with OTT's. I just haven't done it and don't know how much time it takes. I really like my 220 but when in the mud I have to be careful. I'm sure you know what I am talking about ice

I am in the same situation, I need to use my skid every day though to handle incoming material to my site, rain or snow. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Those chains in that video do look pretty good, but I agree it seems like he has a good surface under that mud to drive on. But that won't stop me from trying them, I need to try something. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I found a pair of used Loegering F Series tracks with hammer forged steel pads. Any experience with track over wheels? Ice Cold, you say to undo the chain drive to one wheel? That's pretty easy on my mustang 440, just open the access panel, loosen the tensioner and then I think you can just pick the chain up over the drive cog. I don't think you need to break the chain, but i'm sure thats different on other skids. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Also, the tracks I found are size 12, but I'm running size 10, can I tighter them enough so this isn't a problem? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thanks and thanks Tazza for 10,000 posts!

I'm not the guy to take advice from on the chains/tracks things, because I have unanswered questions too. I just couldn't help myself from commenting on what appeared like a snake oil commercial. I'm like you, hoping other with experience using chains and such would pipe up. I have been stuck in the mud with my 220 and she sits right up on her belly and weighs a bunch. getting it out was not fun. I just don't see chains helping much in muck without a bottom. I think what I need is flotation but I don't want to booger up my driveline. So I'm hoping for some help here too, with the driveline recommendations and some comments on chains vs tracks in the mud mud mud... ICE COLD
