Can someone explain to me like I am a 6 yr old how to loosen the drive belt enough to put the variable speed sheath back together. I've been told to pry open the jack shaft. But apparently I'm an idiot because I can't get it to move. Variable speed assembly broke and popped out of sheave. I ordered replacement part but I'm too stupid to loosen a belt to put it back together. Thanks in advance for your very simple instructions.

Sadly i can't help, but had to comment about you wanting VERY simple instructions :)
Hopefully when you get told, you won't feel too bad.

I have a different machine(500 with non-stock engine) but it has a belt. I took out the bolts that hold the engine except one (front left) than I let the engine pivot on it creating a slack then used a tapered pin to align the holes to get the bolts back in. Maybe that will work for you.

<---Click on my username and send me an email and I'll send the drive section for a 500, hopefully it's close enough to the 600 series that the procedures are the same.

NJWBD, place the half sheave back on the splines as far as you can get it, take a ~6" piece of 2x4, wedge the end of it in between the jackshaft sheave halves and pry against the drive sheave(Loose) to drive the 2x4 into the jackshaft sheave, wedging it apart just barely enough to get the C-Clip back on. You will have very little clearance to get the clip on, and you may have to clamp the two halves with one hand and get the clip on with the other. Very frustrating, but doable.
