M444 split jack shaft broke

Now I'm nervous about which jack shaft to order. As mentioned above the manual states #6554942 for the M444 and #6503352 for the M500. I can't find any specs on either part to compare to what I have taken out of my machine. I've attached a pic of the broken shaft with dimensions. Maybe someone out there can tell which part I have. My bobcat dealer in town says that the 6554942 is not available anymore but when I call an implement dealer in Aikin MN they say they can get either shaft but can't tell me the difference between the 2. OOF! If it's just a matter of length I feel I could shim or adjust accordingly but if it's a matter of diameter that has me worried.
Going by your figures……you have a full 5" from taper shoulder to shaft end (3 7/8 + 1 1/8)? That's 3/4" longer then the longest of the other shafts… Every other measurement is the same on all of them. I made some calls for you today just to verify what your dealer told you. The #6554942 shaft is no longer available……he is going to try to get me some specs on it but wasn't very hopeful on that. "If" in fact you need a full 5" it's going to be a problem as the current M-610 shaft (#6503348) is 4 1/4". I'll let you know if he has any luck. The surface area for the drive gear certainly leaves some room for adjustment with shims but I rarely use more than a couple.

the 3 shaft dimensions I found were; 3 7/8", 4", 4 1/4". I was hoping it was an illustration mistake on the drawing and lengths are for only the 1 1/4" shaft past the tapered portion. The 1 1/8" portion where the chain pulley mounts is not included in that measurement? photo jack shaft lengths.jpg

I did get ahold of a gentlemen just outside Gwinner ND where the bobcat plant is who has tons of parts for old skids. He really knew his stuff and is checking on shafts for me. He thought maybe the shaft for the 610 part # 65033487 might be what I need. He explained to me how to install everything and it seems there is quite a bit of lateral adjustability built into the design. This makes me think that the length issue could be dealt with if I can't find the "right" part. He is only an hour and a half away from me so I may just take a trip down and browse through his inventory. Buddy's Service and Supply , Milnor ND

Are you kidding…….if you're only an hour and a half from Buddy…….load all your parts and questions and go see him. He'll likely have everything and you can't beat the prices. I didn't realize you were that close.

I was ready to cruise down today because of all the possibilities but he shut me down. He wanted to look for the parts first. I'm hoping for a phone call tonight that would give me the green light to go tomorrow! - a potential clue? the back of both sheaves have a tag with the same number riveted on. (240-L) Thoughts? stationary sheave photo sheave_1.jpg sheave photo stationary sheave back.jpg

Don't believe so….as far as I know, all the sheaves that fit the tapered shafts are interchangeable.
