LS180 EIC fuse blown

I was operating my LS180 when all of a sudden the instrument panel goes dark and a constant high pitched warning tone sounds. This has happened before so I knew it was the 5 amp EIC fuse in the engine compartment fuse panel. Fortunately, the boom was slightly raised and I did not have the door installed so I was able to access the fuse and replace it. The fuse blew again right after start-up. Last year when this happened, I replaced the fuse and it has been good until now. What can be causing this problem and how do I fix it?

If you have items stored behind the seat the seat wiring harness can get damaged causing a short circuit and the fuse will blow. At the fuse the power is divided into two circuits. One supplies power to the seat switch and seat belt. The other supplies one of the power sources for the eic.
The seat switch and seat belt each send a circuit to the eic. Also the seat belt circuit sends power to the start interlock relay in the engine fuse and relay panel.
Have you had any problem with the foot pedal solenoids not releasing the pedals, one or both, or the solenoids locking the pedals during use or an error message I think it is FO4. A problem with these solenoids can also blow that fuse. If the fuse blows right away upon start up, then just unplug the solenoids and start the engine and see if it stays running.

Thanks Mike10! I found the problem. I had jumpered a wire from the seat switch to the harness connector because I thought there was a bad wire in the harness. The wire got between the seat frame and the base that it sits on and was grounding. I removed the wire and all is fine.
