I am a bobcat owner and need advise from the Cat folks.have ran across a water damaged 2014 259D. Two questions , assuming it was fine before the water damage what do you think would be the worst case scenario on what would take to fix and what would you think be a good price? Also is there a way by looking at the serial number if it is a high flow?
Thank you

well I am NO CAT expert, but have dealt with a bunch of different tings getting flooded, swamped
the amount of damage honestly comes down to several factors,
first being what is meant by WATER damage
was whole machine under water, , on its side, in water
motor under water
was water clean, and NO water is really clean, but there is a difference in muddy water as to more clear water!

BUT no matter what IF the motor ingested water, the ONLY true way to know it also didn.;t ingest any dirt or other crap is a FULL complete tear down and cleaning of motor
then you have the problem or question ??
did water get into the hydraulic; system
which gets even more complicated , as if it ingested dirty water containing sand , or dirt, , that can mean a FULL rebuild of all THINGS, as you will NEVER Flush out all the lines and pumps free of crap it sucked in!
so, costly< HUGE on this end

tearing motor down, costs vary on WHO is doing it and how much experience and Time they have invested in the tear down

NEXT then you get into what damage electrical item,s you MAY or may NOT have!
water in many modern electrical components , can also be costly to replace, with many computers and such!

SO< the next game to be played, if you DON"T want to tear everything apart and do it the RIGHT WAY
is,
Do you feel lucky, ??
some folks GET LUCKY, they will SINK a machine, flush oil a few times and it will run for them for yrs problem free

BUT that at best is a game of LUCK IMO

things to start with here would be fluid draining and see what that says, that will tell you where water got into some things or NOT
if oil;s don;t show water in them
you may have a easy fix
if motor and hydraulic system show water in them
honestly, I'd pass on the deal unless you can get it dirt free and have a second like machine to use this for parts HAHA!

or have a lot few time on your hand and willing to spend a bunch of cash on tear downs and replacing many parts!

or again if your a very lucky guy, and just run it and it doesn;t end up with major issues!

but again, NOT knowing what type of water damage it has, I just gave you a LOT of food for thought on possible things you MAY or may not have to do!
in the ATV world, folk sink atv's all the time, and again some get lucky flushing things only, and others don't, its 50/50 at BEST on getting lucky
and when those that JUST flush and HOPE for luck, DON"T get lucky
they typically end up with much larger bills to fix due to more major damage that happens from running things after just flushing!

best of luck, let up know what you end up doing!
