lift is very touchy/jerky

my 643 lift is kinda jerky. tilt is fine. i feel resistance on the pedal and i push a LITTLE more and it moves way faster than i'd like. hopefully something simple to fix. any ideas? i know the pedal linkage is a little worn/has a lot of slack at the pedal, could that be it?

Probably. The centering spring could be crusty.
