I have tried search engines on the web, but haven't found what i am looking for yet . Perhaps some one here can help. I have a 2000 model Dodge Ram 2500, diesel engine' 6 speed manual gooseneck ball in the bed , etc I also have a goose neck trailer. The truck handles loads well, but i want to know what is legal. Most of the websites (and the owners manual) appear to give data for bumper hitch. Can someone help me find documentation acceptable to law enforcement as to gross combined wieght rating for this rig ? Thanks, CE

I found some data that may help:

In this listing, it is stated in the notes that any trailer over 10,000 lb rating should be a 5th wheel.
Where I typically live in Canada, the individual driver's licensing allowances typically govern the trailer weight that you can legally pull. A typical car license in Ontario, Ca allows you to operate a vehicle of a GVW up to 24.250 lb and pull a trailer weight less than 10,000 lb. Anything more than that required a CDL.
Check your local state laws.
Hope this helps - SR
