Hello I am a new member here. I am a right arm amputee. I'm in the market for a skid steer I have no brand preference. I'm looking for information on how to retrofit a skid steer so boom and bucket controls are operated with my feet, and drive function with a left hand joy stick. I'm hoping someone has done this or something like it before. I'd rather not reinvent the wheel. Thanks in advance

A set up like a mini excavator or a zero turn mower where the steering sticks almost meet in the middle so you can steer with one hand, would that be workable? Some skidsteers have assists on the sticks so they operate with little effort even as old as the 853. Of course they would have to swivel out of the way for entrance and exit.

Look into the older Mustang skid steers. They have a T-bar control (one hand operation) and use foot pedals for the boom and curl. A good friend of mine is a right leg amputee and he can drive a standard transmission car just fine. While wearing pants he walks with a slight limp and has been yelled at by a cop for parking in a handicap spot for not appearing to be handicapped. Cop felt about 2 inches tall after he pulled up his pant leg. Good luck on your search and let us know what you end up with.

Just thinking out loud: Could an SJC machine be configured to allow one stick to control travel, while the pedals control boom/bucket? It seems like all of the puzzle pieces should be there...
I will admit that I know only enough about these machines to realise that I could be potentially dangerous!! : )
