From the great posts, looks like my hydraulic pressure switch should be replaced. I bought Part number 87036787. Dealer and posts say switch is located under the seat. My seat was bolted down by previous owner, using flashlight, can't see anything under the seat. How does a regular seat "lift up" and the only device similar to a switch is buried behind the firewall. Also paid $60 for a hydo filter. Any sources less expensive ?

When standing at the front of the loader looking at the seat, look at the right lower rear corner of the cab and you will find the latch which holds the seat down. It is about 6 back from the seat belt mount. Once the seat is unlatched raise it up until the support rod catches in the notch to hold the seat up.
After the seat is up look towards the back of the engine bell housing. You will see the two hydrostat pumps that are mounted to the bell housing. Again looking from the front look at the top of the right hydrostat pump. You will see two large hoses and two metal lines attached to the top of the hydrostat pump. The front metal line has several fittings attached to it. On one of the fittings is for a small hose. Follow the hose and you will find the switch at the end of the hose.

Thank you Mike. Appreciate your walking me through the process. You were right on the mark. The hydraulic pressure switch was defective. Machine is running again. New to skid steers, purchased the L865 to replace a 1973 gas backhoe on our horse farm. A bit over my head with the machine, thanks for going easy on me, and especially the accurate analysis. John

Browsing over many difffernt kinds of posts, I noticed that you are really knowledgable about skid steers, from hdro switches down to diodes. I took note of your 9-18-12 reply to my starting issue, put it on the back burner, but opted to change my seat as the old seat by-passed a defective switch. New seat and switch were "universal" and took a month to retro fit. At 70 and quite a bit overweight spent hours crouched up in the cab like a woolly caterpillar. Most mornings I could not get out of bed so stiff and sore. Still wouldn't run. Then decided onto your suggestion, but couldn't even figure out how to lift the seat.lol. Was kind of you to walk " a dummie" from start to finish. Couldn't unbolt hydro switch, even using heat. Neighbor's teen age boy came over, stretched out horizontal feet on loader bucket, comfortable and able to get leverage, freed the switch in ten seconds. I've a lot to learn, glad that this forum exists, and of help from people such as you.
