Hello, Have a L785 that has been sitting. Machine was not running when purchased but it crank's really strong. Had the injectors and pump rebuilt ( they did need rebuilt) and I am not able to start the machine. Machine has new fluid and filters and the fuel system has been primed. It has a Perkins diesel. I was gonna try to retime the fuel pump with the motor this weekend. Are there any helpful hints or anything else to try first? Thanks, Rick

dies it p uff white smoke as you crank it?
How is the compression?
Are the glow plug working?
Are you getting fuel at the injectors? you can crack the high pressure lines at the injector to confirm this. While cranking you should see the fuel build up.
Just a few things to check out.

It does puff grey black smoke after you prime the fuel system. And after it cranks for a second there's no more smoke. I was gonna check the compression and glow plugs this weekend. I think there's two glow plugs on this model. And yes there is fuel at the injectors. Thanks,

Mine is a 94 L785 it does not have glowplugs. If you only get smoke for a few cranks and then it quits that means the fuel also quit.I never have had to prime mine so I can't tell you how to do it but it sounds like your doing it right.Pump timeing is very crucial to have right or it just won't run. Try alittle bottle throttle, very little to keep it running and see if you can push the last of the air out-becarful to much can over rev or hydro lock the motor for a few min.when its right mine will start below 0 all by its self but it cranks a while. Good luck

I pulled the timing cover off. Someone has been in there before. But all the timing marks are way off on all the gears. I will mess with it this weekend and see if I can align the gears and get it running. Thanks,
