L218 Tier 4 Engine Rebuild

Hello, I have a 2013 NH L218 with a blown engine/cracked block. They pretty much offered me nothing for this on a trade for a new L218, so I kept it. Looking for any advice from someone who has rebuilt one of these. I've done a NH 175 engine in the past, this is the same Shibara 2.2L, 4 cylinder diesel, but with a lot of extras due to the Tier 4. Can any of this "junk" be eliminated? I can see that the exhaust recierculation/cooler is completely plug with carbon, there's no way that it was working at all. Thanks in advance!

There shouldn't be any problem mating up an older pre-greenie mill to the mechanics, the real problem will probably lie in the computer missing inputs from some of the tier 4 garbage, which could result in it not operating, or wailing error codes all the time.
I suppose someone that knew what the computer needed to hear could whip up some dongles to feed data in place of the missing sensors, but you'd need to be shoulders deep in the code to pull that off.
