Hello, my JD4475 skid steer hydraulics are remaining locked after start up. The seatbelt seems to be working because the engine will not start until seatbelt is snapped. Starts immediately and with ease. However, the my foot controls remain locked and will not move as if i have unsnapped the seat belt.

I am not certain of the operation of that machine ,but I would asssume the there is a brake button to deactivate after start up. so is it releasing properly?

There is no brake to release. The skid steer will move and steer as normal with the handles. However, my bucket will not raise nor tilt with the foot controls. They remain locked. Thanks.

There is also a seat sensor that will cause this. I recently watched some YouTube videos by farmcraft 101 that bought the New Holland version of your model loaded with issues that he works through one by one. I have a better understanding of my 4475 after watching.

Thank you for this tip. I'll watch the video. If you mean the button under the seat it's fairly new. I replaced it about 2yr ago. The one when you sit down on the seat and the overhead instrument panel lights up. It seems to work fine, but I'll give it a look over as well. Thanks again.

I am not familiar with your unit. On mine, there is a door sensor that will lock out the bucket and boom if the door is open. When mine did what you described, I had to replace the solenoids for the hydraulics. FYI the boom and bucket solenoids should be 14.0 - 18.5 ohms. Finally, mine has a rocker switch that allows the unit to be operated when out of the seat ( for accessories like log splitters and backhoes). It bypasses the safety switches as another way to troubleshoot the problem. Think Safety switches first, electrical (fuses, relays, switches, solenoids, weak battery) then mechanical (pump, broken pins, etc). Good luck.

Thank you for your advice.

The seat has the safety button under it which after setting in the seat the overhead instrument cluster lights up and after buckling seat belt allows the machine to start. I thought it was working fine, but I decided to use a jumper wire to check it anyways. The foot controls seem to work as they should. I've ordered another seat switch. I wouldn't think it would allow the instrument cluster to light, and the machine to start, but not allow the foot controls to work. It's like it is working partially... I'll update when I replace this seat switch.

That very well could be the problem. On mine, generally when you unfasten the seat belt the loader/foot controls are locked but sometimes (25 years) when I stand up one of my feet still activates one of the loader controls. When I reseat and then get up it's cancelled and works as it should which makes me think it's the seat sensor. Good luck.

there is a service switch on the top pannel, not by my machine right now but try switching to service mode, may let you finish, its not seatbelt or it would show up on display lights

I have the service manual at work will take a look tomorrow, also few years ago had a issue similar turned out to be a sensor in the back of machine, after replacing it worked fine it is on the right side of machine under the side covers, you need service mode to raise arms, lock them and remove cover
